Dating S.O.S

Yesterday, we talked about giving and receiving useful gifts. Revisiting this topic; sometimes there is an overlap between a gift that you need, and one you would love even if you didn’t need it! For example, you may need new wine glasses (I know someone who does personally), but perhaps you’ve been eyeing these really special ones and receiving them as a gift from a special someone would be as nice now, as it would if you had enough wine glasses to start a catering company.

Useful gifts go far beyond blinds, although I have to admit this is one of my personal favorites. Imagine: wife comes home to find husband proudly sitting on the couch (perhaps with some vino!) asking if she didn’t notice anything different. First she glances at him suspiciously, did he get tattoos? Piercings? no…
Then, turning around, she faces the windows. Boom! Surprise!

As soon as people can get over their stigma’s of what constitutes a lame gift, then they could actually enjoy giving and receiving some basics that make life in general more pleasant. Perhaps blinds may be considered a “house wife gift” by some, but it doesn’t have to be.

Personally, any man trying to spruce up my house wins major points.

Blinds may not work for you, but ask yourself: what makes you happy? What bugs you currently? Are you constantly irritated because you are always looking for cash for public transit? Then your significant other should be tipped off to get you a just-because-metro-pass-gift.

They say “don’t sweat the small stuff”, but sometimes it is the small thoughts and gestures that makes all the difference.
