City Grill - A Cosmopolitan Bar & Grill
By Anita V. Robeson • Feb 1st, 2007 • Category: City Guides, Date Ideas, Toronto Guide
City Grill is a super spot for a romantic date and one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto. I’ve probably had more dates here than at any other eatery in the city.
Great Location
It’s near a number of theatres and concert halls and also conveniently located in Toronto’s one-and-only Eaton Centre. You can meet at the bar and enjoy a cocktail, or stay for a tasty meal before seeing a show.
Dinner and Drinks
I must admit, I’m especially fond of the place because they serve sparkling wine by the glass. (Not many restaurants do.)
But, be forewarned, (depending on what you order) it can be a tad pricey for the underemployed or financially challenged. However, between now and February 8, 2007, City Grill is participating in Winterlicious, which I mentioned in my last post. This means you can experience a delicious three course meal at a great price! Only $15 for lunch or $25 for dinner. Click here to view their special fixed-price menu.
Perfect Patio
In the summer, be sure to ask for a seat on their charming patio overlooking Trinity Square Park. I’ve whiled away many a Saturday afternoon there, munching on sweet potato frites, drinking Mimosas, watching the squirrels, and basking in the warmth of my lover’s eyes.
Yumm!
Service can be a bit slow when they’re busy, but their entrées are well worth the wait. I recommend the Niagara Chicken Spinach Salad with toasted sweet pecans, blue cheese, red onions, green grapes, and raspberry vinaigrette ($14) or the 6 oz. Filet Mignon with three peppercorn sauce, sautéed mushrooms, Yukon Gold mashed potatoes, and fresh vegetables ($23).
Awesome Date
With its inviting atmosphere, terrific location, and savoury food – City Grill serves up all the right ingredients for a satisfying and memorable date.
