About Me & Contact

Tackling a gluten-free breadThis website has existed since 2005, and has seen many changes in design, format and content since its birth. The website has grown as a result of my own interests, and it took some time to find the exact topics I felt strongly enough about to focus on in the long term.

Many people discover at some point in their lives that they have a food allergy. A large number of these people are in relationships at the time they find out, or even worse, trying to date. Can you imagine going on a first date, and not being able to order hardly anything on the menu? Trying not to sound “too difficult” or “bitchy” even though you simply cannot eat like other people eat? Frankly, it would do many of us a world of good to commit to a more clean/wholesome eating lifestyle, whether or not your body is actually forcing you to. For those of us who have little choice, we have to find great tasting alternatives in a world overwhelmed with quick and easy fast food, pre-packed and processed foods, and a potential lack of understanding from our environment.

I am on a journey of food discovery myself, and recently went on an elimination diet. I am now gluten, dairy, sugar, and salt free. I’m also avoiding deep-fried food, so my previous major food group (fries) is also eliminated (as are potatoes in general for the most part). Try eating out with those requirements, and better yet… try going on dates! Chances are your partner may be concerned at times, and frustrated at others. You will also have to learn how to cook fabulous and tasty meals that fit your new requirements.

Food can be a big part of a relationship. Romantic or otherwise. We break bread with our friends and family, share our days over a hot latte, and proclaim our love with home-baked creations. Because food is a big part of relationships, that’s where I’d like to offer some rescue. How to eat, and what to cook when you are going wheat-free,  dairy-free, sugar-free, and salt-free. However, I promise I will never commit to “taste-free”. I am convinced that there are fabulous ways of eating well, feeling great, and… breaking bread with those we love. Even if it is a gluten-free bread.

If you’re just going back to eating clean, or whole foods, you’ll like these recipes as well. Best of all, chances are your significant other, and friends, will be able to appreciate at least some of these foods too!

Happy eating!

Christine
